This week our specialist bore electrician, Dave, called on a customer in Floreat reporting their submersible motor was tripping the circuit breaker in the meter box.

Dave found the one horsepower 2 wire submersible motor was not fused and the windings appeared intact but there was a complete dead short to earth.

At a minimum the submersible motor needed replacing but given the age of the unit it was decided to replace the wet-end (pump) as well and down hole electrical cable and stainless steel draw wire. Our submersible pump installer, Adam, will attend and install the new pump and motor and cables down the bore hole. There was no electrical junction box at the bore head so in this case Dave will return and one will be added for easier servicing in the future.

Dave  found the bore head under a hedge  near the letterbox.  nice detective work Dave!

It was great we were able to help with repair to this Floreat water bore so the garden would be ready for summer.
