Old style well repair Stirling

There are many old style wells in the Stirling and Balcatta  areas. The area has a very rich history of market gardens.

Dave, our specialist bore pump electrician was asked to have a look at a four liner well at a property in Stirling that was not working.

He found the the 3 phase DOL starter was OK and the pump was actually running but there was no water. We tried to prime but the water was dropping away and not filling at all. He quickly found that it was the check valve that was faulty. So one of our service team will return and replace.

As you can see there is a good safe ladder for our guys to use to repair the well.  We are often faced with unsafe ladders which make our job impossible. Because of safety requirements we will only repair wells that are up to four liners deep.

We service and repair centrifugal bore pumps in old wells as well as new submersible pumps.

Not often do we find on old bore well in the Perth metropolitan area that is set in such an idyllic back yard as this one in Bedord.

It is actually inside a chicken coop surrounded by contented chickens. After years of faithful service and watering a bountiful vegetable garden it is finally beyond economical repair.

It is a 35 foot climb down a ladder inside the concrete well liners to the pump. Beneath the pump is a 49 foot spear. Unfortunately the bore is pumping sand indicating the spear has collapsed. This old bore is quite deep for Beford, as the house is at the top of a hill.

The best solution here is to drill a new submersible bore on the front lawn and install a new submersible pump on the front lawn to match the flow required by the existing reticulation system.
