Burnt Capacitor City Beach

One of our customers in City Beach was reporting low pressure on his garden bore

We sent our reticulation guy who said it is popping the overload and it was working when he first got there,

So we sent our electrician who found the capacitor in the start box had melted as you can see in this picture.

Burnt Capacitor

So he swapped the capacitor and the relay and all is working.

Automate Old Bore Perth

We are presently automating the reticulation systems in two adjacent Duncraig homes.

They share an old style bore which had been operated by a manual switch. So far we have installed a separate automatic reticulation controller on each property and are replacing the old manual gate valves with automatic solenoid valves (3 solenoids on one property and 5 on the other).

The retic system at one house hadn’t been used for 20 years so fingers crossed when we give it a well overdue service and some TLC!

We are up for a challenge,

If you need help automating your old style well or modern submersible water bore call Troy on 9246 0111.

Repair and Maintain Old Wells Perth

We look after this old style well in the Southern Perth suburb of Applecross hidden in the large back yard of a quarter acre block.

Applecross old style well

The old well was dug in the 1950’s and has 4 concrete well liners with a three horsepower pump at the bottom of the well.

It has a hydro indexing valve which is very usual to see in a Perth reticulation system. Even the curious magpie has stopped to have a look.

Fimco Hydro Indexing Valve seen at front of picture

The system uses 2 zones one at the front and one at the rear. Instead of solenoid valves it uses the hydro indexing valves to change from one zone to another each time the system is turned on.

These larger blocks in older suburbs provide a place for children to play and a safe haven for birds and wild-life.

We have had twenty years experience repairing old wells in Applecross and the surrounding Perth suburbs of Ardross and Mount Pleasant. Call us on 9246 0111 or check out our website HERE

Abundant supply of water in Applecross garden

As you can see this Applecross home has a beautiful green garden and lawn with a plentiful supply of water.

Submersible Bore Pump Replacement Carramar

If your bore pump needs replacing and you live in Carramar or the surrounding suburbs of Wanneroo, Joondalup or Neerabup we can help you on 9246 0111.

Replace Water Bore Pump Perth

Submersible pumps are very reliable and normally don’t require any pre-emptive maintenance or repair. However, on occasion, they may be susceptible to lighting induction or fusion. It is best to get a specialist bore pump technician or electrician to repair or replace your submersible pump. It will save time and money when you do the job properly. We can also advise on whether any bore pump motor damage may be covered in your household insurance if you have fusion coverage.

Replace Water Bore Pump Carramar

Here we are replacing a 1.1 kW single phase submersible pump in the Perth suburb of Carramar. We also replaced 28 metres of downhole electrical cable with special rubberized bore cable and stainless steel draw wire in this 34 metre deep Carramar garden water bore.

Our specialist bore electrician will then return to install a junction box and test. Once the pump is up and running we will connect back to the reticulation and make sure all is OK.

Supply and Install Tap and PRV

Tap and PRV Brabham

Virgin Water Bores recently drilled, cased, developed and gravel packed a 18 metre submersible bore in the Perth suburb of Brabham.

A .75 kW submersible motor was used for the Brabham water bore.

In the next few days after the drilling the electrician and reticulation team connect the new water bore to existing reticulation and bore box.

Repair Shared Bore Ocean Reef

Driving around Perth at the moment you will see people back in their front yards pottering, weeding and checking their water bore and reticulation sprinklers.

David in Ocean Reef has a shared modern Sumoto submersible water bore with his neighbour.

He called us on 9246 0111 when his bore was not starting on his side but his neighbours was working. They have a Sumoto submersible pump.

We sent out our specialist bore electrician, Dave.

Fixed water bore by replacing fuse in retic box
Fuse in retic controller replaced

The 1 amp glass fuse in the reticulation controller was blown. He replaced and all is working OK.

We suspect there may be an intermittent fault in the 24 volt start wiring of the shared bore coming from the neighbours retic controller

Reconnect Water Bore after Renovations

If you have a submersible water bore and you are doing renovations, it is important to consider the water bore as part of your planning.

Old Fremantle Bore

We attended a job in North Fremantle that had an old submersible bore that was working before renovations but had not been reconnected.

Fremantle bore repairs
A bit of detective work and digging around this old bore in Fremantle uncovered what needed doing

We sent our electrician to test the motor and quote the on the cost of re-connection of the submersible water bore.

He found the motor tested OK but that it was an old installation with imperial sizes, no slack on the bore head cable and lots of limestone in ground and concrete around the house. It will be a challenging job to reconnect electrically.

Fremantle Water Bore

Fix bore Fremantle
The submersible bore was in a concrete pit filled with sand and barely visible.

There was a new  start box needed to even test the bore itself was OK electrically as original start box was missing.

Once the bore is back up and running this one is to be wired just for manual operation as the owner intends  to continue using it just manually from a hose. Later if it is connected to automatic reticulation we can install a reticulation controller.

Drill Water Bore in Driveway

When we are called to a Perth home to repair a water bore, we need to know that location of the water bore hole.

It is great when the home owner knows the location of their water bore. If the home owner has bought a home with a bore they may not know.

The modern submersible water bores have a green lid which can we covered with lawn, garden bed or as you see here aggregate or liquid limestone in a driveway. The water bore is normally drilled in a drive way if there is tight access for the drilling rig in the garden and lawn of the home.

Adam will cut the bore casing down to below ground level then install the submersible pump and green bore box over the top. Once our electrician has connected it up and we connect to reticulation the paving or the driveway cut out will be put back and everything tidied up.

It is worth noting that it is the old-style wells that come with a tin lid that looks like a witches hat.

So if you are buying a house with a water bore get as many details as you can about the bore like location and depth so that if your water bore needs repair you can call us on 9246 0111 and we can do the best job possible.

Repair Root Damage Water Bore Perth

Roots are never a water bores friend. We think these are probably ficus roots.

They certainly cause a problem if incorrect bore construction allows them to get inside bore casing taking the easiest route to water.

We repair water bore with root damage
Repair Perth bore with root damage

When we were called to service this Perth water bore we found a different type of root damage. Here the surface roots had strangled the old conduit carrying the 240 v cabling to the bore, interrupting the power supply.

We are up for the challenge when you call us to repair your Perth water bore.

Our specialist bore service electrician located and fixed the problem getting the bore up and running in short time. No wonder this bore had been tripping the circuit breaker. Call us for any Perth bore repairs 92460111 or book a bore repair here

Bore Repair Greenwood

Bore problem Greenwood

Pat lives in Greenwood and her RCD (Residual Current Device) switch was tripping.  (It was the RCD rather than the circuit breaker tripping ) Who did she call? Us on 9246 0111.

We sent out our experienced bore electrician, Dave.

The first thing he did was test the submersible water bore motor and it tested OK. There was one RCD that protected all power points on two circuits with the pump on the power circuit.

We fixed RCD that was tripping while retic being used
A customer’s RCD was tripping when she was using her retic

Bore was tripping when retic ran.

Pat told us that when station 3 was on the RCD tripped. Dave noticed there was a broken sprinkler right near the bore head washing out sand.

He exposed the bore head and it was filled with sand which he dug out by hand. Sand should not cover the top of a submersible bore for a variety of reasons. It can drop down inside the bore casing and as it is pumped back out it will prematurely wear  out the pump impellers. It can also play havoc with solenoid valves in the retic system.

But why was this bore tripping?

As Dave dig down he exposed the electrical junction box that joined the cables up from the pump with those going towards the house. It appears that as the sand got wet from the broken sprinkler the moisture was getting in to the less than perfect electrical junction box and causing the bore RCD to trip. Upon removing the sand and retesting all worked OK.  It has been noted though that the j box will need replacing and raising whenever the submersible motor is replaced.

This Greenwood garden bore and retic system is now working OK.
