You will see many old style wells with a tin lid around Perth. Many are up to 70 years old and some have been dug by the home owner in the ’50’s and ’60’s.
My father dug the well for our family home in Applecross and it is still working.
Many older Perth well style bores still giving faithful service after years of pumping bore water to the garden. Our specialist service team can keep them ticking over with a few industry tricks, priming solutions and centrifugal pump replacements.

Sadly though sometimes they are beyond economical repair and need to be “retired”. The best solution can be replacing with a modern submersible bore. Submersible bores have a small green lid which is usually ‘hidden’ under the lawn or garden. Submersible pumps are silent and very economical.
Call Virgin Bores to discuss a new submersible bore for your home and ask us how will it work, how long it will take and how economical will it be. Want to get an idea of cost for a new water bore at your house click HERE
We are going to drill a submersible water bore for this client in Balcatta. We have been drilling water bores for homes in Perth for nearly 20 years. To discuss a water bore for Balcatta call us on 9246 0111.
We will be drilling to 28 metres. Modern submersible water bores operate silently and are not visible from the surface covered by a small rectangular plastic lid.
The client has an existing old style well with a tin lid. We have done the service and repair on the old well for many years for this long time customer and it has finally given up the ghost. The old well was in the back yard so we will be taking down a panel of fencing so we can use the existing electrical to save the Balcatta customer money.
If you would like a quote for a water bore we can design a new submersible water bore around your needs. Call us on 92460111 or if you would like free water at the flick of a switch check this out HERE
We won’t tell you where in Perth our service man came across this unorthodox bore and reticulation interface but it was north of the river.
The reticulation controller was an indoor model mounted outside. It “talked” to the 24 volt relay that turned on the old well style centrifugal pump. We were called because the old bore had stopped pumping water.
In this case ultimately the best solution was to replace the old well with a new style submersible style bore in the northern suburbs home. This was done by our Perth bore drilling arm Virgin Bores. Check out our website www.virginbores.com.au.
