One of our bore service team went to a job this morning in Marmion. The bore was installed at this Marmion garden in December 2014 and it is 20 metres deep.
The bore was turning on normally with the power meter spinning faster when the bore pump was turned on with all the normal sounds and the tell tale click but there was no water.
We thought it was going to be a blown poly rising main pipe down the submersible bore hole but it was in fact a split fitting in the bore box. It was probably caused by the surface pipe connections to the retic having being completed and rigid before the pump was turned on for the first time. The very first running of a submersible pump fills the rising poly main with water which is then held there every after by the pumps check valve. This weight most likely stretched the stainless steel draw wire slightly and put undue pressure on the fitting which subsequently split.

We replaced the fitting and the bore is up and running.

Winter sprinkler bans are in place across Perth from June 1 to August 31.
This includes owners of domestic water bores. However bore owners are allowed to flush irrigation systems once a week on their rostered watering days, either before 9am or after 6pm, for about 2 minutes per station during winter. This helps keep not only the bore in working order but exercises both the solenoid valves and the sprinklers in the reticulation system.
During winter if you have an issue with your modern submersible bore or reticulation system it is a great time to call as we are not as busy and wait times are less.
Hand watering is permitted during the ban and customers can apply for an exemption for new lawns.
