Repair Water Bore Northern Suburbs

If you have a problem with a submersible bore pump in the northern suburbs we offer fast repairs.

We have been repairing water bores in the northern suburbs of Perth for nearly 20 years in suburbs like Balga, Ballajura, Mirrabooka across to Craigie, Mullaloo and Heathridge.

If you call us on 9246 0111 – we will try and identify the likely problem over the phone. You might be lucky and we get you up and running with just a few bore troubleshooting tips or we can then send the right person out to repair your modern submersible water bore.

Our electrician will provide swift diagnosis of all bore electrical problems. Tripping circuit breaker? Retic controller not working? Pump starting but no water? We work on all brands of bore pumps including Grundfos, Lowara, Davey, Onga, Sumoto, Universal and Franklin to name just a few.

Just under the lawn is often the top of a submersible bore. In this pic the green lid has been removed. As you can see the modern submersible water bores are ‘hidden’ under the surface of the lawn or garden until repairs are needed.

Water Bore Repair Marmion

One of our bore service team went to a job this morning in Marmion. The bore was installed at this Marmion garden in December 2014 and it is 20 metres deep.

The bore was turning on normally with the power meter spinning faster when the bore pump was turned on with all the normal sounds and the tell tale click but there was no water.

We thought it was going to be a blown poly rising main pipe down the submersible bore hole but it was in fact a split fitting in the bore box. It was probably caused by the surface pipe connections to the retic having being completed and rigid before the pump was turned on for the first time. The very first running of a submersible pump fills the rising poly main with water which is then held there every after by the pumps check valve. This weight most likely stretched the stainless steel draw wire slightly and put undue pressure on the fitting which subsequently split.

We replaced the fitting and the bore is up and running.

Use of water bores during winter sprinkler bans

Winter sprinkler bans are in place across Perth from June 1 to August 31.

This includes owners of domestic water bores. However bore owners are allowed to flush irrigation systems once a week on their rostered watering days, either before 9am or after 6pm, for about 2 minutes per station during winter. This helps keep not only the bore in working order but exercises both the solenoid valves and the sprinklers in the reticulation system.

During winter if you have an issue with your modern submersible bore or reticulation system it is a great time to call as we are not as busy and wait times are less.

Hand watering is permitted during the ban and customers can apply for an exemption for new lawns.

Submersible Bore Pump Shaft Broken

We had an unusual service call yesterday  (9246 0111) about a submersible bore pump that was producing only about 25% of the water that it normally delivered.

Pump and motor uncoupled showing shaft.

We ruled out all the normal things like a hole in the poly rising main, pump wasn’t running backwards, none of the “normal” causes.???  When we winched the submersible pump to the surface we found the shaft joining the motor to the “wet-end” (pump) seemed OK but on uncoupling the submersible pump we noted inconsistencies. Found the shaft had sheared actually inside the pump leaving the first 4 of 12 impellers still turning. Quite an uncommon fault.

Further detective work found the unusual auto start device had been turning the pump on/off, on/off incessantly contributing to the failure. Replaced the pump and installed it all back down the borehole with the original motor. Tested and all good now!
