Today we were busy talking to customers about water bores and water bore repairs on 9246 0111.

We just completed drilling a new submersible bore in Girrawheen. This bore was drilled to 42 metres deep and because of access restrictions for our drilling rig we drilled this bore in the driveway. Once the submersible pump is installed only a small access hatch will be visible that can be driven on.

We have drilled in Girrawheen and surrounding suburbs for many years so have an excellent knowledge of the ground conditions.

Girrawheen water bores are mostly in the 25 to 50 metres deep range.

Out of interest – “On 26 June 1970, the Shire gazetted the name “Girrawheen”, meaning “place of flowers” or “the place where flowers grow” in an Eastern States Aboriginal language, possibly that of the Kambuwal people in southeastern Queensland” (source: Wikipedia)

Submersible Water Bore Myaree

What is under here? A modern submersible water bore that is saving the householder money. Unlike the old well type water bores with the large tin lids, this water bore is not conspicuous and runs silently.

This submersible water bore was drilled recently by our drilling team at the home of a customer in Myaree, a southern Perth suburb. The bore lid was finished flush with a new aggregate driveway. We generally drill in lawns or gardens but here there was no other possible place to drill.

Modern submersible water bores have come along way. Now-a-days submersible garden bores are silent and invisible…a far cry from Subiaco’s new bore installed in 1901.

It was interesting to learn about the history of this very early water bore in the Subiaco area.

It was described as “positively cruel to keep that engine going at night” and “the Presbyterian people have succeeded in having it stopped during divine service”

Deep Bore in Wembley Downs

Virgin Bores has just drilled a deep new submersible water bore in Wembley Downs 9246 0111.

By Perth metropolitan area standards it was very deep at 62 metres. The house is on top of the hill near the water tower. We know in advance how far we have to drill as we look at the depth to water in the Perth Groundwater Atlas on the Department of Water website HERE

Pictured here is a trailer mounted air compressor. We use this via the roll of pipe seen on the back of the truck to pump compressed air down the newly drilled bore. This is called “air developing” and flushes the introduced drilling muds out of the borehole and helps develop water flow from the superficial aquifer before we install the submersible pump.

Once we drill a water bore we can design a new retic system if needed and will look after our clients ongoing needs to service their bore and retic in the Wembley, Wembley Downs, City Beach and Doubleview areas.

Virgin Bores was quoting on a new submersible water bore in West Leederville when we spotted this fantastic recycling with an old mattress frame / springs used to make a vertical garden.

It makes a perfect frame for the plants to climb on. These plants will flourish with a new submersible water bore and the nutrient rich Perth bore water. The Perth coastal plain is generally ideal for bore water. Unlike the old fashioned wells with the tin lids a modern submersible bore is invisible and silent. It lasts and will save you money. Also with a water bore you can water your garden three days a week instead of two on mains water. Obviously you only water when needed.

Bore Repairs Claremont

We have just repaired a water bore in Claremont for an elderly client.

We talked to the customer on the phone and identified the fact we needed to send our specialist bore electrician, Dave. He found the submersible pump motor was not working and certified it as fused so the client could claim on her insurance. Her insurance policy covered pump motor fusion. It was quite deep for a Claremont bore so we had to winch the pump up over 30 metres.
