Water Bore Repair Yangebup

Patrick from Armadale rang us on 9246 0111 when his submersible pump motor was not working.
We sent our specialist bore electrician, Dave.
The Franklin Electric 1.5 kW single phase bore pump start box was in the roof space with 24 volt relay behind meter box panel. This is a very unusual place to find the bore controls as the start box contains the capacitor and overload circuits. Also unorthodox place to position the 24 volt relay that accepts the start signal from the retic controller.

The pump motor was running but only drawing 7.7amps which is more consistent with a 1.1kW not a 1.5kW submersible pump motor.

Dave exposed the bore head which was located in the front lawn. The top of the bore was just under the lawn with the typical green lid. There was no barrel union (threaded coupling) so he drilled a small hole in the top of the PVC pipe connected to the retic system and found there was no water in it as would be normal. This could signify a check valve failed in the pump or a blown poly line that brings the bore water to the surface.

Our next step will be to winch up the pump motor to investigate further and then repair this Armadale water bore. Our submersible pump winch team is booked to return.

This old centrifugal pump was in a shallow 3 liner well style bore in Perth.
We can repair the old style wells up to 4 liners deep. We replaced this pump with a new pump.

The old style wells with concrete liners have tin “witches hat” style lids and the pump is visible once you lift the lid.
We stock compatible replacements for most brands of centrifugal pumps including, Onga, Davey, Calpeda, Weststate, Lowara and Stalker.

“I was clueless”
Don lives in Bibra Lake and the new pump in his old well was not pumping water.
He had rung several companies and it seems all they saw was $$$.
He then rang Brett, who started Virgin Bores nearly 20 years ago, and is very knowledgeable about most things that can go wrong with a bore or old style well.
Brett talked through with Don over the phone how to prime his pump. It took a lot of water to top prime but it worked on the third attempt. Although there wasn’t much water coming out at first once the pipes had filled at the front and back of the house the pump changed sound and was really working.

Don told us that if he had any future problems or repairs he would call Virgin Bores on 9246 0111.
Don, thanks for the great review. We always try and put the customer first. If we can help you with repairs to your older style call us for expert advise on 9246 0111.
This householder is doing some renovations and asked us to extend their reticulation system. We have installed, repaired and serviced hundreds of reticulation systems across the Perth metropolitan area.
Our man Jack spent about half a day at this coastal suburb of a Trigg and extended the reticulation so the garden will be watered in the warm summer months.
Jack’s main challenge was turning the reticulation controller on and off leaning over the wet cement in the garage.

We are very happy to fit in with whatever is happening at your house.
We have done a lot of reticulation work in Perth’s coastal suburbs of Trigg, Scarborough or North Beach
If you would like your reticulation serviced, repaired or installed call us on 9246 0111.
A client in Fremantle wanted us to look at his water bore. The brick pit around the top of the bore certainly confirmed that this was indeed a very early submersible bore. He was told he had old casing that had been breached that was no good. He wanted a second opinion.
We test pumped the water bore at 80 litres a minute for 35 mins and found the bore water was very dirty for the first 5 minutes. For 30 minutes it then pumped flawlessly. Good flow and clear bore water.

Our serviceman’s notes brought a smile to the customer’s face. It appears the initial diagnosis had been wrong.
“10:30-12:00 Test pumped at 80lpm for 35 mins Was very dirty for five mins
Small amount of plant matter coming up could be from dirt that had fallen from above ground”
It’s a good bet that this bore will run for a good many more years after we install a new submersible pump.
When we drill a modern submersible water bore we install a bore start box which is the 240 V control equipment for the bore.
Normally the submersible bore start box is next to the meter box or adjacent to the retic controller on an outside wall of the home.
Our bore electrician Dave had a bit of detective work to do to locate the 240v control for this single phase Lowara submersible bore pump in Ballajura.
It was in the roof which was quite unusual.
This call out to Ballajura was to repair a tripping circuit breaker. It was the Lowara motor down hole that was faulty.
We service and repair all types of bore pumps, electrical faults and reticulation in Ballajura and surrounding areas. Call Troy on 9246 0111 or check out our website HERE
We had a call from a client in Mosman Park to say that her bore and reticulation was not working.
Our bore electrician attended promptly and found that the start box was tripping due to a faulty bore start capacitor. The 50 MF faulty capacitor was replaced and all is working on both reticulation stations again.
The capacitor shown in pic had clearly evident grey “gunk” oozing out the bottom. Sometimes this is black.

Often even an external smell test of the bore start box reveals a tell tale burnt smell when a capacitor has ruptured like this.

We informed our Mosman Park client some of the sprinklers were broken and more repair work was required.
If you are in the Mosman Park area or the surrounding areas of Cottesloe and North Fremantle and need prompt bore or reticulation service or repair call Troy on 9246 0111 or go to our website HERE
This shot is taken from Angwin Street in East Fremantle.

We maintain four water bores in this beautiful street in East Fremantle. Even high on a cliff, next to the salty Swan River, you can get fresh water from a water bore.
Water bores in East Fremantle are typically drilled between 20 and 50 metres to water and are normally drilled through Tamara limestone, predominantly calcarenite.
If you have a water bore in the East Fremantle area or the surrounding areas of Palmyra or Bicton and your water bore needs repair, we know the area REALLY well!

Are you looking forward to spending some quality time in the garden this summer?

Well the good news is spring will be with us shortly in Perth. Now is probably a good time to test your reticulation and water bore to make sure you are ready.
The phones are getting busier with Perth customers looking for repair and service of their water bores and reticulation.
Peter let us know this week “used them twice and always amicable and do a great job”
Lots of Perth people are installing new water bores and saving money. After Lee had a water bore installed he told us “Just had one put in and they did a great job”
