New water bore Nedlands

New water bore Nedlands
New water bore Nedlands

Our new installation arm Virgin Bores are drilling a new Water Bore in Nedlands tomorrow. The depth to water here in Florence Road is about 36 metres so we will drill to a total depth of 38 metres for plenty of water.
The garden bore will be equipped with a of 1.1 kilowatt submersible pump. Pretty standard for most Water Bores in Nedlands and Dalkeith. This will deliver about 90 litres per minute to the surface. Perfect for a typical Nedlands garden retic system. The small white vertical stake indicates where we will be drilling the bore. Alongside the brick wall is the 100mm PVC borecasing that will be installed permanently in the borehole. The bottom 6 metres of the casing is finely slotted to allow the water in. Around this we pack a fine layer of screened drillers gravel to act a s a permanent filter.
If you’re interested in a new bore or bore and retic repairs in Nedlands, Claremont or Dalkeith please call us on 92460111.

New Reticulation system Piara Waters

Piara Waters
New reticulation system

As well as fixing water bores, we service and repair reticulation systems and install complete news systems.

Today we completed another irragation system in Piara Waters south of Perth. This retic system we connected to a new submersible water bore we drilled last week. Note in the pic the raised and exposed PVC pipes will be covered when the raised retained garden bed is backfilled.

Does a water bore save you money?

Water bores save money
Saving money with a water bore

This client had a water bore drilled in Autumn of last year in a Perth northern suburb.

It was drilled to 35 metres and has crystal clear water. Salt levels were tested at 300 ppm which in this case was fresher than the clients tap water

A year on the garden is flourishing. Watering the garden three a week with the nutrient rich bore water has made a big difference. The home owner’s water bills bring smiles to the face of these keen gardeners every time they open one. These clients are saving well over one thousand dollars a year in water consumption.

If you want to save money on your water bill give one of our friendly team a call on 9246 0111 or visit our main website on http://www.virginbores.com.au

Water bores really are the perfect solution in Perth’s hot dry climate with it’s water hungry sandy soils.

Happy Gardening!

New water bore Ellenbrook

Today we drilled a successful water bore in Ellenbrook.

If you are thinking of getting a submersible water bore in the Ellenbrook or surrounding suburbs it is good to know what is happening in your area.

When we drilled this Ellenbrook bore it was 13 metres to water. So we drilled the bore 27 metres deep to maximise flow and guarentee longevity of the supply of water. The 1.1 kw submersible pump we installed easily delivered 95 litres per minute. We will join some of the existing reticulation stations together to accommodate this flow which is nearly triple that being delivered by mains scheme water. Our driller marked the water quality eight of ten for clarity.

The picture here is of the bore just after drilling and casing. It was air developed and gravel packed and is now waiting for our team to install the submersible pump. After pump installation the casing will be cut down and everything will be finished off underground with the lawn replaced. In a few weeks time you won’t be able to have seen we have even been there. The submersible pump will operate silently at the bottom of the bore casing delivering fresh, free ground water to this Elelnbrook garden.

If we can help you with a water bore in the Ellenbrook area call us on 92460111 and we would be happy to help you.

New submersible water bore Marangaroo

Drilling a new water bore in Marangaroo
Drilling a new water bore in Marangaroo

Drilling a new submersible garden bore today in Marangaroo.

The depth to water (static water table) was quite deep at 42 metres, because the house was high up on a hill. We drilled to 54  metres in total. This gives 12 metres of water in the bore casing.

We will be installing a 1.5 kw (2hp) submersible pump which at this depth will deliver about 80 litres a minute. This will be double what the customer currently gets from mains water supply.

We will connect the bore to the existing reticulation sprinkler systems. We will join several stations together to come on at the same time to use the extra flow.

This Marangaroo bore was drilled in a day and mainly drilled through compacted sand. This was a messy job due to the drilling muds flowing backwards on a forward sloping block. Fortunately we are licensed to use the street’s high pressure fire hydrant and will use this water to wash down and clean up.

New water bore Trigg

We have drilled many water bores in the Perth coastal suburb of Trigg. Call 9246 0111.

This 44 metre submersible water bore was drilled in 4 or 5 hours and produced beautiful crystal clear Trigg ground water. It was drilled in the driveway.

This video gives you a good idea of what is involved in having a new water bore drilled at your home.

We are expert in drilling modern submersible water bores in coastal suburbs that will save you money.

There are total sprinkler bans in winter in Perth. If you have a bore you are able to run the bore for 2 minute per station (zone) a week for maintenance reasons. This is good not only for the bore, but also for the reticulation system solenoid valves. Any maintenance testing must be carried out between 6pm and 9am on your allocated watering day.

As of the first of September, Perth bore owners are allowed to use their bore on their allocated watering days. For this bore it is Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. When you have a modern submersible bore you are able to water three days a week (households with scheme water can only water 2 days a week). The Water Corporation website can help you with your watering days which are based on house numbers.

In September this year there was a total rainfall for Perth of 76mm with 8 days straight of zero rainfall. Please keep an eye on the rainfall and put your reticulation on ‘rain’ if there is some wet weather on the horizon.

If you are near the coast and would like some advice on a modern submersible water bore call 9246 0111 or go to our website HERE.

Fix old style well Perth

Old style well
Old style well

We are available to help out anytime. Today is a public holiday Monday and we were able to help out when Wayne called with a question about an old well south of the river. He rang us on 9246 0111.
Wayne has an old well style bore which is one liner deep. He had removed the sprinkler to flush out a line of accumulated debris. The pump was running but he wasn’t getting any water. Unfortunately he had run the pump at a flow higher than the bore could sustain. We explained to Wayne over the phone how to prime his “orange” pump and he was set to go. That was good news as he had just sold his house and needed his bore and retic working before settlement next week. He was going to get back to us if there were any further issues with his well.
If we can help with an old style well phone one of our team on 9246 0111.

New submersible motor and pump Doubleview

Customer's submersible pump and 3 phase motor
Customer’s submersible pump and 3 phase motor

A Doubleview customer sent us this picture of his submersible pump and 3 phase motor. He and his electrician had pulled it out of his very old 32 metre submersible bore hole. They had disassembled it and electrically tested the motor.

The motor needed replacing. We attended and replaced the motor and while we were at it a new submersible pump. We replaced all down hole electrical cable which we heat shrunk to the new motor lead. We also replaced his old frayed stainless steel draw-wire but reused the existing 40 mm poly rising mainline that delivers the water. The poly pipe was all good even after several decades of service. At the same time we dosed the bore with 20 litres of chlorine to help kill the iron oxide bacteria that was evident.

Finished off with a new bore box at the bore head, reconnected and all set to go. Most Doubleview water bores are in the 30 to 60 metre deep range as a consequence of Doubleview’s elevation. If you have any questions call our team on 9246 0111.

What size is my submersible bore pump?

Most submersible bores in Perth have either a 1.1 kilowatt ( one and a half horsepower), 1.5 KW ( 2 HP ) or 2.2 KW ( 3 HP ) motor connected to a matching pump ( “wet-end” ) We can answer any questions on your submersible bore on 9246 0111

If the motor is a single phase then ordinarily it will have a start box mounted near the electrical meter box. This often has the kilowatts or horsepower marked on the front. These pictures show the common Sumoto pump start box where the kilowatt selection has been indicated in black markers. This one is 1.1 kilowatt.

For a three phase motor the only reliable way to determine the motor size is to pull up the motor and pump.
