Fix Old Bore Yangebup

One of our recent bore repair jobs was a centrifugal pump motor tripping the circuit breaker in the backyard of this property in Yangebup. You can see the rusted and partially collapsed tin lid of the bore well in this picture.

Dave, our specialist bore and pump electrician attended the job and found there was a 3 liner well with bore pump located on wooden boards 2 liners down.

Pump failed mechanically

The 3 phase pump and motor had failed mechanically and was just humming. The pump had not fused and was fine electrically but need replacement.

We returned and supplied and installed a 2.2 kW 3 phase centrifugal pump and fittings.

Our customer now has bore water again.

Repair Water Bore Mindarie

One of our recent jobs involved a submersible pump motor not working. We had installed the modern submersible water bore in 2005.

Dave our specialist bore electrician was the man for the job. He attended at the Mindarie home and tested the 1.5KW pump motor and it tested OK.

As you can see here it was a blown 50 MF Capacitor. He replaced for new and the customer’s water bore is up and running without too much trouble or cost.

Water Bore Baldivis

Water Bore Marangaroo

The Virgin Bores water bore teams are up for a challenge with many years of experience drilling water bores in Perth.

Sometimes when a front garden is walled in there are very limited places to drill a bore. Legendary work by George and the team on this Marangaroo job.

The small green lid of the bore box will be completely hidden when the paving is put back. Nice clean up George! Especially after drilling 51 metres deep in such challenging circumstances.

Bore not working in South Perth

A resident of South Perth was concerned as their reticulation was not working and they contacted us on 9246 0111.

They reported that they could hear the typical “çlunk” sound  as the contactor engaged when they started the bore pump from their retic controller.

Our electrician found that the one horsepower Sumoto submersible motor was not fused. The motor windings appeared to be intact but there was a complete dead short to earth.

His recommendation was that we replace the submersible motor, wet-end and electrical cable down the bore hole for new. He disabled and taped up motor tails in the borehead junction box and all the other electrics tested OK.

So another member of the team returned and replaced the .75KW submersible motor, 15 metres of electrical and stainless and barrell union. All tested OK and another South Perth water bore was back up and running for the hot summer months ahead.

When there is a problem with a water bore it takes experience and skill to diagnose the problem and repair efficiently, quickly and economically for the Perth householder.

Water Bore Repair Fremantle

A client in Fremantle wanted us to look at his water bore.  The brick pit around the top of the bore certainly confirmed that this was indeed a very early submersible bore. He was told he had old casing that had been breached that was no good. He wanted a second opinion.

We test pumped the water bore at 80 litres a minute for 35 mins and found the bore water was very dirty for the first 5 minutes. For 30 minutes it then pumped flawlessly. Good flow and clear bore water.

Our serviceman’s notes brought a smile to the customer’s face. It appears the initial diagnosis had been wrong.

“10:30-12:00    Test pumped at 80lpm for 35 mins Was very dirty for five mins

Small amount of plant matter coming up could be from dirt that had fallen from above ground”

It’s a good bet that this bore will run for a good many more years after we install a new submersible pump.

Bore Repair Kingsley

We have been in Kingsley testing a 1.5 kw Red Jacket pump motor after Daryl rang us with problems with his submersible water bore. It has given faithful service as it is approximately 24 years old.

Ultimately the pump motor tested OK for our specialist bore electrician Dave but the original tests read dead short to earth. He found that the junction box in the borehead was completely burnt out. Dave replaced the junction box for new and all is working again. He did a Tong Test which was at 11 amps well within range.

Dave drilled several holes in the bottom of the junction box to allow water to drop out and not fill up in the future.

Burnt Plastic in Bore Box

Our bore electrician Dave attended a bore service job in East Fremantle to repair a  water bore reported electrically failing.

The water bore is approximately 50 metres deep with a 1.5 kw Sumoto submersible motor. Dave reported the motor tested OK.

However, the start capacitor in the bore start box was completely blown and part of the start box was melted. So Dave replaced 50MF capacitor for new. He then ran the bore and retic and tested and it was all working OK. Note the ruptured start capacitor. The grey ” gunk” oozing out is typical when a capacitor swells and bursts. This one had burnt and blown more than we normally see. Our customers had smelt the burnt odour walking past the bore control box.

Submersible Bore Tripping Mount Pleasant

James from Mount Pleasant phoned regarding his submersible pump that was tripping the circuit breaker.    (Call us anytime on 9246 0111 if you need help too)

The water bore was drilled in his driveway and it was very useful to know that the paver to show where the bore was located was a different color. As pictured the bore head was was covered by an old concrete lid pit.

Our senior experienced bore electrician Dave reported the motor was about 8 years old. The 1.1 kw 2 wire subbie motor was dead short to earth and although the motor’s windings appeared to be intact the internal capacitor had ruptured. So we replaced it with a new 1.1 kw sunbmersible pump motor and replaced the start box and junction box.

We replaced the junction box too. This joins the cables coming up from the pump to the cables going to the house.

Old Bore Well Needs Repair Dianella

Jeremy from Dianella phoned us this week saying that the pump on his old style bore well was tripping and was in need of repair.

Our specialist water bore electrician was the man for the job! There was one well liner and it was in the back yard. Most of the bores in the lower lying parts of Dianella are quite shallow. Some up on the hill can be very deep!

Although the three phase centrifugal pump motor tested OK there was a dead short between phases and the isolator had burnt out wiring.

Dave replaced the isolator and renewed all the wiring and the bore pump is working again.
