No problems Paul. Dave our specialist bore electrician attended this job in Ballajura. Electrical tests showed the Sumoto submersible motor was “not fused” and the motor windings were intact but there was a complete dead short to earth.
We returned and replaced the submersible motor and start box. Now our Ballajura customer is ready for the warm summer months in Perth.

Our bore electrician Dave attended a bore service job in East Fremantle to repair a water bore reported electrically failing.
The water bore is approximately 50 metres deep with a 1.5 kw Sumoto submersible motor. Dave reported the motor tested OK.
However, the start capacitor in the bore start box was completely blown and part of the start box was melted. So Dave replaced 50MF capacitor for new. He then ran the bore and retic and tested and it was all working OK. Note the ruptured start capacitor. The grey ” gunk” oozing out is typical when a capacitor swells and bursts. This one had burnt and blown more than we normally see. Our customers had smelt the burnt odour walking past the bore control box.

The customer’s 2 wire submersible motor was completely seized, when running it was drawing over 42 amps. It was a totally manual operation with plugs into an adjacent water proof power point which is fed by its’s own circuit breaker/RCD in meter box. All the other bore electrics tested OK.
So we returned to fit new barrel union, new cable down hole and new submersible pump wet-end.

We are quoting for a client who is about to build a new home in Shelley. We are quoting for drilling, a stainless steel submersible .75 KW pump and motor and the down hole electrics for a 10 to 13 metre bore. The start of the water bearing ground is at about 2 metres.
We suggest to drill and case prior to the completion of the building and site cleanup. Avoids mess, driving on a new driveway and avoiding any problems with new front walls. We are also choose a spot that will not be built over which is ideal for ongoing access to the bore head.

Pictured is the bore start box for a submersible water bore at a home in the coastal Perth suburb of Trigg.
There was an existing reticulation system at this home in Trigg when new water bore was drilled. The reticulation system was disconnected from mains water near the water metre. The retic controller was on a back wall of the house and was wired to send a 24V start signal to this bore start box.
The bore start box is located next to the electrical meter box next to the front door.

Most submersible water bores are drilled between 18 metres and 60 metres deep depending on the depth to groundwater in Perth. Call 9246 0111.
Most submersible bore holes in Perth are drilled by the rotary mud method. After the desired depth has been drilled the drill bit and the metal drill rods are retrieved. Next the permanent bore casing is lowered into the bore hole in 6 metre lengths which are glued and screwed together.
In this video you will see the Class 9 PVC bore casing being lowered into the freshly drilled bore. The first 6 metres is slotted casing to allow the ground water to flow in. Inside the bore casing will be suspended a submersible pump.

We have drilled a new submersible water bore in Nedlands to a depth of 22 metres. It is popular in the area to have a water bore to water gardens and lawns. The depth to water in the area is mid range and we would normally use a 1.1 KW submersible pump and motor.
There was no access at the front of this Nedlands property for our bigger water boring rigs so we gained access using a trailer mounted rig. We manoeuvred the rig off a narrow back lane using the trusty old Landcruiser.

You’re never meant to see white sand coming from a sprinkler. In the case of this customer they had an old style well.
The screen had failed which allowed in sand. It is very white sand that comes from water bearing ground that is washed almost iridescent over the years. The options for this broken Perth water bore was to either redrill a spear into the existing well or drill a new submersible bore.
