Earlier this month our specialist bore electrician went to a client’s home in Bassendean to test a three phase centrifugal pump motor. It was reported that the bore was not working.

The pump was running but there was no water. It was a 2 liner well on the right hand side of the driveway.

We primed the well and all is working OK and tested OK.

Burnt Plastic in Bore Box

Our bore electrician Dave attended a bore service job in East Fremantle to repair a  water bore reported electrically failing.

The water bore is approximately 50 metres deep with a 1.5 kw Sumoto submersible motor. Dave reported the motor tested OK.

However, the start capacitor in the bore start box was completely blown and part of the start box was melted. So Dave replaced 50MF capacitor for new. He then ran the bore and retic and tested and it was all working OK. Note the ruptured start capacitor. The grey ” gunk” oozing out is typical when a capacitor swells and bursts. This one had burnt and blown more than we normally see. Our customers had smelt the burnt odour walking past the bore control box.

Old Bore Well Needs Repair Dianella

Jeremy from Dianella phoned us this week saying that the pump on his old style bore well was tripping and was in need of repair.

Our specialist water bore electrician was the man for the job! There was one well liner and it was in the back yard. Most of the bores in the lower lying parts of Dianella are quite shallow. Some up on the hill can be very deep!

Although the three phase centrifugal pump motor tested OK there was a dead short between phases and the isolator had burnt out wiring.

Dave replaced the isolator and renewed all the wiring and the bore pump is working again.

The customer’s  2 wire submersible motor was completely seized, when running it was drawing over 42 amps. It was a totally manual operation with plugs into an adjacent water proof power point which is fed by its’s own circuit breaker/RCD in meter box. All the other bore electrics tested OK.

So we returned to fit new barrel union, new cable down hole and new submersible pump wet-end.

Centrifugal Pump Motor Broken Thornlie

The centrifugal pump motor down this well in Thornlie is seized up mechanically.

Our specialist bore electrician, Dave, reported it was drawing over 52 amps. The Thornlie pump motor is one well liner down in the backyard if the Thornlie house.

We will now send another member of the team to replace the centrifugal pump and replace the blown fuse wire.

This Thornlie resident will soon be ready for summer.

We had a call last week from a Mindarie resident whose water bore needed repair.

It was a shared bore with a neighbour and they were keen to get it fixed pronto. Sharing a water bore is a great idea as it halves the costs. More shared bore info here.

Our specialist bore electrician, Dave, attended and tested and found the 1.1 KW submersible motor was fused.

He made a number of recommendations. Replace the bore cable down the hole, renew the junction box at the top of the bore, rewire bore to house and replace the submersible motor, start box and wet-end (pump). Mindarie-2-.jpg

Water Bore Repair Floreat

This week our specialist bore electrician, Dave, called on a customer in Floreat reporting their submersible motor was tripping the circuit breaker in the meter box.

Dave found the one horsepower 2 wire submersible motor was not fused and the windings appeared intact but there was a complete dead short to earth.

At a minimum the submersible motor needed replacing but given the age of the unit it was decided to replace the wet-end (pump) as well and down hole electrical cable and stainless steel draw wire. Our submersible pump installer, Adam, will attend and install the new pump and motor and cables down the bore hole. There was no electrical junction box at the bore head so in this case Dave will return and one will be added for easier servicing in the future.

Submersible Bore Pump Tripping

A customer in Dalkeith rang us on 9246 0111 after their three phase submersible bore was tripping their 3 phase circuit breaker and they were not getting water from their garden bore.

We have an expert specialist bore electrician (Dave) who was the man for the job. He found that the three phase submersible motor was instantly tripping  the three phase circuit breaker in the meter box when the retic was turned on.

Dave meggar tested the pump motor at the borehead sending a current down hole to the motor. Pump motor tested fine.  What he did find was burnt out wiring in the junction box ( pictured below) contained in the green box at the top of the submersible bore hole. He replaced the junction box and all is working well now. Whilst there Dave tested the reticulation system to make sure there were no other faults.

Bore not starting Booragoon 

We had installed a bore for Bob in Booragoon a few years ago.

He rang to say the bore was not working. We sent out our specialist bore electrician Dave. The submersible pump motor tested ok and he noted that there was no 24 volt to relay from controller.

He found that there was a red multicore running along the pavers from below the reticulation controller to below the bore start box. The joint connection at the bottom of the start box was faulty so he remade it.

All working again on front 2 stations. There was no cover on station 3,4,5 and 6, it was cut off due to construction. He fixed.
