Is drilling a water bore messy?

This week Jason asked Virgin Water Bores

“I have a fully established garden that I would not want to disturb, how much mess and how much garden needs to be removed to install?”

It depends where we need to drill.

There is the least amount of mess if we are able to drill on the front lawn. Then we can just replace the lawn and tidy up.

We need about a square metre to drill down and to allow for some working room.

We do try to drill close to the metre box as that cuts down on the costs for the customer. This may mean we need to drill in the garden or in a driveway.

Wherever Virgin Water Bores drill it may be messy on the day but we will restore the site to as new afterwards.

The cost savings will be well worth the temporary pain.

Submersible Bore Tripping Mount Pleasant

James from Mount Pleasant phoned regarding his submersible pump that was tripping the circuit breaker.    (Call us anytime on 9246 0111 if you need help too)

The water bore was drilled in his driveway and it was very useful to know that the paver to show where the bore was located was a different color. As pictured the bore head was was covered by an old concrete lid pit.

Our senior experienced bore electrician Dave reported the motor was about 8 years old. The 1.1 kw 2 wire subbie motor was dead short to earth and although the motor’s windings appeared to be intact the internal capacitor had ruptured. So we replaced it with a new 1.1 kw sunbmersible pump motor and replaced the start box and junction box.

We replaced the junction box too. This joins the cables coming up from the pump to the cables going to the house.

Submersible Bore Pump Tripping

A customer in Dalkeith rang us on 9246 0111 after their three phase submersible bore was tripping their 3 phase circuit breaker and they were not getting water from their garden bore.

We have an expert specialist bore electrician (Dave) who was the man for the job. He found that the three phase submersible motor was instantly tripping  the three phase circuit breaker in the meter box when the retic was turned on.

Dave meggar tested the pump motor at the borehead sending a current down hole to the motor. Pump motor tested fine.  What he did find was burnt out wiring in the junction box ( pictured below) contained in the green box at the top of the submersible bore hole. He replaced the junction box and all is working well now. Whilst there Dave tested the reticulation system to make sure there were no other faults.

There was an existing reticulation system at this home in Trigg when new water bore was drilled. The reticulation system was disconnected from mains water near the water metre. The retic controller was on a back wall of the house and was wired to send a 24V start signal to this bore start box.

The bore start box is located next to the electrical meter box next to the front door.

Old bore pumping sand

We were called to repair an old well that was pumping sand in Mount Pleasant.

The spear has collapsed in the old well and it was producing sand blocking pipes and the solenoid valves.

The most economical solution for the Mt Pleasant home was to replace with a new submersible water bore.

Casing a Submersible Water Bore Perth

 

Most submersible water bores are drilled between 18 metres and 60 metres deep depending on the depth to groundwater in Perth. Call 9246 0111.

Most submersible bore holes in Perth are drilled by the rotary mud method. After the desired depth has been drilled the drill bit and the metal drill rods are retrieved. Next the permanent bore casing is lowered into the bore hole in 6 metre lengths which are glued and screwed together.

In this video you will see the Class 9 PVC bore casing being lowered into the freshly drilled bore. The first 6 metres is slotted casing to allow the ground water to flow in. Inside the bore casing will be suspended a submersible pump.

Today we are visiting a client in Bull Creek about automating his old well.

At the moment he turns on the old well manually from the DOL starter near the metre box. He then turns on two manual gate valves near the old well to send water to the front and back of his Bull Creek home.

We will send our specialist bore election to fully automate the system. He will install a new reticulation controller to interface with the bore. He will also run cables to the gate valves and we will replace with automatic 24 volt solenoid valves turned on and off by the reticulation controller.
